The botched work of Mexican police officers on Jenni Rivera's
plane crash evacuation has disgusted the singer's family. Not only
items were stolen from the crash scene but also, video showing gruesome
remains of the singer was taken with a cell phone and leaked to the
Internet.
According to TMZ, Rivera's family want whoever took the video to be
brought to justice. Although the footage has not been confirmed to be
authentic, the family believed it was real based on the items and
remains that were shown in it. Indeed, Rivera's brothers Pedro and Gus
identified her body on the crash site in the northern state of Nuevo
Leon on Wednesday, December 12. Therefore they might have a clue of the
real situation.
The footage contained shots of mangled body parts including a severed
foot with painted toenails. The family believed that the foot belonged
to Rivera because "Jenni was very particular about her feet and toes."
They hoped that all traces of the footage will be wiped out from the web
as much as possible.
A rep for the Mexican Consulate in Los Angeles has confirmed that two
police officers have been arrested in relation to the video leak and
stolen items. "We have over 2,000,000 police officers [in Mexico], and
unfortunately some of these officers have been corrupt in the past, but
we cannot generalize that the whole force is corrupt," the rep said,
adding "Mexico has been working very hard to make their citizens and
tourists safe, however it is not fair to judge the whole tree based upon
a few bad apples."
Investigators searched the homes of the crooked cops and found items
belonging to the crash victims and photographs of the crash scene which
were leaked to the media.
