We'll admit that part of the reason we tune in to "The X Factor" is to see what Britney Spears is wearing. Through the years she's been known to get people buzzing over some of her fashion choices (the barefoot bathroom pit stops come to mind), but now seated alongside Simon Cowell at the judges table, it's like our little Brit-Brit is a whole new stylish woman. This extends to her new cover shoot in Lucky, in which she also talks fashion from a down-home perspective — from how she lives in sweatpants when she's hidden away at home to the one article of clothing that she absolutely, positively refuses to wear.
Britney's Favorite Things
Opening up about her fiancé, talent agent Jason Trawick, who popped the question last December, the 30-year-old tells the magazine the reason he's "the one" for her is simply because he's "sweet." Asked to cite an example, Spears was clothesminded, saying, "He says he doesn't mind that I sit around in sweats all the time." While the "Hold It Against Me" singer is currently obsessed with "big, stupid earrings, like with loops and feathers," she also reveals the one thing you'll never catch her wearing. "I never wear socks," says Spears. "I hate socks."And shoes are a whole other matter. Let's just say she probably doesn't have an accurate estimate of the size of her shoe collection. Seeing as she just purchased an $8.5 million house, we'll guess she has a closet that you and your immediate family could comfortably reside in. However, when the Louisiana native is asked how many pairs of shoes she owns, she replies with a "terrified" look and says, "I don't know. A lot." Pressed for a more specific answer, she stammers for a minute, "I don't know, 50," then quickly adds, "Is that not enough?"
Michelle Obama's 100 Best Looks
As far as her fashion icons, Spears lists two modern-day trendsetters: Jennifer Lopez, who she calls a "classic beauty," and Sarah Jessica Parker, because her "looks are really bright and funky and young." And the pop star gets especially candid about her two makeup essentials. "I really just wear mascara all the time," she says. "And powder, because I have zits."

But life at home for Spears isn't just sitting around in sweatpants with zit cream on. She tells Lucky that when she has down time, "I work out. I swim. I play with the kids, I cook and I garden. We play Connect Four. We play Candy Land. Last night we read The Night Pirates." And do her sons, Preston, 7, and Jayden, 6, understand her stardom? "They're in the middle right now of trying to figure it out," she says. "They try to figure out where I go when I go to film 'X Factor.' They're like, 'Mommy's going off to be a superhero.' And then I get back, and they just see me as Mommy. And then when I'm back working on the show, they say, 'Oh, Mommy's a superhero again!'"

However, her rise to fame hasn't been an easy one — as we've seen again recently with the ongoing court battle
between her shady ex-manager Sam Lufti and her parents, Jamie and Lynne
Spears — and she doesn't have any plans to push her sons follow into
showbiz. "If there was something they really wanted to do and were
passionate about, I'd encourage them to follow their dreams," she says.
"But I'd also be there behind the curtain saying, 'No, don't go out
there.'" As for her own ups and downs, she has no regrets. "I think most
people are their own worst critics," she says. "I'm a perfectionist. I
want things done a certain way. I am hard on myself but not regretful."
