Amy Winehouse
might not die of alcohol poisoning despite previous autopsy results
saying so. It turned out that assistant deputy coroner Suzanne
Greenaway, who was in charge of the inquest, didn't have proper
qualifications to conclude the cause of the singer's death.
According to British law, Suzanne was not qualified for the job because
she hadn't had 5-year experience with the Law Society or 5-year
experience as a qualified medical practitioner. She was appointed for
the post by her husband, coroner for Inner North London Andrew Reid.
Suzanne resigned from her position after her qualifications were put
into question. Andrew, though admitting he did nothing deliberately
wrong when hiring his wife as his assistant, also chose to step down
from his post instead of challenging the issue.
Camden Council said a new hearing to determine what killed Amy is
scheduled for January 8, 2013 at St Pancras Coroner's Court. "The
inquest into the death of Amy Winehouse had not technically been heard,"
the authorities explain in a statement.
Amy died in summer 2011 at the age of 27.
