Britney Spears will not be returning as a judge on “The X Factor,” a production source confirmed to Access Hollywood on Thursday.

Show boss Simon Cowell, along with producers, began discussions about the coming judging shakeup over the holiday break, the source added.

Britney joined the FOX reality series for the second season with a reported $15 million contract.

With the 31-year-old superstar moving on, the “X Factor” judges’ panel will now need to find two new stars to sign on, as music mogul L.A. Reid announced in December that he would not be returning for Season 3.
