Rapper DMX
has another run-in with the law. A spokesperson for the South Carolina
Highway Patrol told E! News that the "Party Up" rapper was charged with driving under influence and two other charges following his early Friday, July 26 arrest.
According to the police, DMX was pulled over by a trooper at 2 A.M.
after the 42-year-old rapper drove his Plymouth station wagon
"erratically" near Greenville, South Carolina. The rapper, whose real
name is Earl Simmons, was ordered to take Breathalyzer test after the trooper suspected that he was drunk.
He was booked into Greenville County Detention Center on charges of driving under the influence,
driving without a license and not wearing a seatbelt. According to
Reuters, he later left the detention center at around 4 A.M. after
posting $1,235 in bail.
DMX's representative Domenick Nati, however, denied that the rapper was
charged with DUI. "Allegations about DMX being arrested for drunk
driving are false. He was arrested early this morning but quickly
released. X was given a breathalyzer test and easily passed it," the representative explained in a statement.
"He is back at his home in South Carolina and we are continuing our focus on his upcoming album and acting roles," Nati said, adding that DMX was pulled over because an officer noticed that he did not wear a seatbelt.
DMX has faced various charges in several occasions these years. He got
arrested several times in Phoenix in 2008 on charges which ranged from
animal cruelty to reckless driving. He was also arrested last year on
suspicion of driving without a license in South Carolina.
