Jennette McCurdy's mother, Debra, has lost long battle with cancer. The "iCarly" star's mother passed away on Friday, September 20, according to a statement from the actress' representative to E! News.
"Jennette has suffered an unimaginable loss," the statement reads.
"Please respect her and her family's privacy at this time of mourning.
She appreciates the love and support of her fans."
Debra had been battling the disease for 17 years. She went into remission, but the cancer was back in 2010.
"In February 2010, my mother had sinus surgery and her doctors found breast cancer cells in her sinuses," the "Sam & Cat" star wrote on the Wall Street Journal. "After several scans, they also found cancer in her skull, lymph nodes,
ribs, sternum, thoracic and lumbar spine and pelvis. And just a few
weeks ago, they found cancer in my mother's brain and she has started
another round of chemotherapy for the cancer in the rest of her body," she said back then.
Debra was under constant pain, but she kept taking care of her daughter.
"She can barely stand, yet she gets up before me in the morning so that
she can make me a mug of hot chocolate. I don't know how she does it,
but she claims it's what makes her happy," Jennette said.
Jennette is scheduled to host Nickelodeon's Worldwide Day of Play this
weekend. According to TMZ, she has canceled her appearance at the event.
