According to Variety, the “Pitch Perfect” star, 27, is being considered to play Cinderella in Disney’s upcoming musical, “Into the Woods.”
The actress Tweeted about the casting report
late Friday, when “Looper” writer Rian Johnson Tweeted Anna the link to
the story with the comment, “Congrats! :-) Don’t f**k it up! :-)) Or
I’ll murder you! ;-) Literally! :-|”
Anna
– known for her humorous, witty Tweets – replied, “If I f**k it up I’ll
do the job for you! :-) I’ll meet you at the Golden Gate Bridge ;-) You
bring some rope! haha :-|”
If the
actress (who has already proven her musical ability in “Pitch Perfect”
and the resulting solo hit, “Cups”) does sign on for the film, she’ll
join an impressive cast.
Johnny
Depp, Meryl Streep and Emily Blunt have inked deals to star in the
film, a big screen adaptation of Stephen Sondheim’s 1987 Broadway hit,
while Chris Pine, Jake Gyllenhaal and more are reportedly in various
stages of negotiations to sign on.
“Into the Woods” is slated for release on Christmas Day, 2014, and will be directed by Rob Marshall (“Chicago,” “Nine”).
